Lawnscaping Challenge #117: Thinking of You Sponsored by Ellen Hutson

Good morning! Today is another fun challenge day with Lawnscaping. Today's challenge is Thinking of You (Hope, Love or Encouragement).

Having cards of encouragement are always great to have on hand for when you need them! Sometimes a pretty card in the mail is just the pick-me-up someone could really use.

I created this with a lot of white space but yet with a lot of color! Here is what I made:

What I did was create a mask from a sticky note so that I could overlap my flowers from the Flutter By set on the right edge of the card. I colored them in using my Twinkling H20s. They're these beautiful watercolors with a brilliant shimmer to them. Sadly, you can't see that in the photos, but they're so pretty in person. Then I cut out the negative space left in between them. I did this so that I could sneak a patterned paper behind them so they would pop off the card. Love this technique.

For the sentiment, I masked out part of it so that I could stack it. It comes all in one line. You can always cut apart your stamps, but I wanted to leave it all in one line and this is a great way to do that. Just mask out what you don't want to stamp. I used Golden Glitz on this for a sparkle to coordinate with the colored flowers on the right.

I simply flicked on some of the turquoise blue H20s with my water brush pen. Simple look and it adds some bright little dots of color to your projects.

To finish off the card, I added some simple rhinestones in the center of each flower and tied on a twine bow next to the sentiment.

Golden Dreams

I am inspired by different quotes I see and this quote I chose for the card I created today really is inspiring!

I started with a kraft cardstock base, cut and scored to 4.25x5.5. Next, I chose a pretty patterned paper and cut that to the same size as my front panel for the card and adhered it.

Next, I took a piece of the Shimmering Cardstock in Green Envy and cut that to 4x5.25. I rounded two corners and then stamped the Sheena Optimism Leaf in Delicata, Golden Glitz. I also heat embossed the leaves. Too bad you can't tell in the photos, but it's so pretty in person!

For the sentiment, I took a piece of vellum and inked up the quote from the Sentimentals, Vintage set with Staz-On Midi Ink in Ganache. I glued that the the green embossed leaf panel and added a simple white with gold fleck twine around the top of that piece and tied a simple ribbon. I added several white enamel dots as well for some interest on the right side of the card. Then, I glued that entire panel to the flower paper with some thick foam adhesive.

Classic Celebration Card

I'm back again with another simple and pretty card! Let's get down to it...

Today, I just had an urge to ink up this awesome Sheena, Mystery Author stamp with some nice juicy ink, Versafine in Onyx Black, and I heat embossed it to make it pop. The sheen reminds me of the old school shiny, black typewriters. I'd love to get one eventually!! I used watercolor cardstock to give it an old school feel. I then stamped the "let's celebrate!" sentiment from the Bebunni Floral Collection, Bunches of Love, in Delicata, Silvery Shimmer. I then fussy cut the entire image out and set aside.

For my card base, I chose a nice salmon linen stock this time. I cut and scored to 4.25x5.5. I pulled some fun papers in to go behind my typewriter. I used a black and white stripe and an orange and cream graph paper. Onto that, I inked up the Shenna, Simply Scripty with the Memento Ink in Cantaloupe. It's VERY subtle, but it looks so pretty in person.

I glued those papers down to the base alternating the position to make it fun! I took the typewriter image and glued down with some thicker foam adhesive. To give some sparkle, I added several black sequins to the card. Totally simple, but classic. Makes a beautiful birthday card for someone older that can appreciate the nostalgia of the typewriter!

Lawnscaping Challenge #98 Sponsored by Lawn Fawn

Hi there! I'm here today with a card for our current Lawnscaping challenge. This is #98!! And it's a fun one - create your own background with stamps. I have to admit, this WAS a challenge but I'm so thrilled with the way mine came out. I hope you play along because there is a fab prize from the sponsor, Lawn Fawn, up for grabs.

Now, on to my project!

For this card, I wanted to use the new set that I think is just too adorable, Lawn Fawn, Bugs & Kisses. For the background, I used the two hearts from the set and the swirl image and went to town creating a fun background. For the larger heart, I used Memento Luxe in Morocco. The smaller heart was stamped in Memento Luxe in Angel Pink, and the swirl is in Delicata, Golden Glitz. It's hard to capture the sparkle the gold gives to the paper, but it's really subtle and pretty!

I used a pink card base and cut my white panel a bit smaller to show that color on the left and right. For the top and bottom of the card, I chose the small hearts on pink from the Lawn Fawn 6x6 Let's Polka Paper Pack. I rounded just the bottom corners.

I took the two bugs and stamped them with Memento, Tuxedo Black onto my Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth Coloring Cardstock, colored with my Spectrum Noir Markers, cut them out, setting their little bodies aside. I then stamped the same onto the actual background paper I created. This allows you to see their little legs and antennae, give dimension and not worry about having to cut out so close around the legs and antennae. I then just used some foam adhesive to pop up the bugs.

I added in the smaller heart stamped in Tuxedo Black and colored in with a gold Sharpie and used some foam adhesive. I love the little "love" between the two bugs.

The sentiment "bugs & kisses" fit this perfectly and I just simply stamped it onto the heart paper at the bottom, making it flush right with the edge of the white cardstock.

I gave the little girl bug and the "i" in kisses a bit of bling.

Christmas Thank You Card

I've got a non-traditional color combination for you today for a holiday thank you card. I think these are wonderful to have on hand for sending to someone who gives you an unexpected gift, and you want to thank them. What's a better way than a hand crafted card and a little message?

My card used an aqua, white and pink for this Christmas thank you. I took a photo on an angle to show you the cardstock and embossing that was done to the aqua panel. I've listed all my supplies below. I hope you enjoyed the project, and that I've inspired you to make some thank you cards for your stash and to embrace non-traditional color palettes. So fun!
