Day of the Dead Eternal Love Decorative Hanging Art

Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE with all heart anything and everything skull or Day of the Dead related. I'm just in love with the colors, patterns, skull designs and the entire meaning behind the Day of the Dead/Dia de Los Muertos holiday. Such a beautiful way to celebrate life of those loved ones that have passed on. It's something I want to even learn more about and to teach my children about. The artwork just speaks to me.

So, when I saw these new and AMAZING sets that are being realeased TODAY with Day of the Dead images, I fell head over heels for! I mean, it's just ME!!!

I used the Eternal Love set by Sheena Douglass. I'm telling you, her sets blow me away! But I loved the male and female images. I had a lot of fun coloring this image and really giving it life. Sounds funny giving life to skull images, right?! ;)

I made the flowers from some tissue paper I had on hand and found some simple instructions online. I used some skull pewter pieces inside of the smaller flowers. I just cut out the image of the sugar skulls and glued that to black cardstock to make it pop, added some twine to hang it and used glue dots on the back of the flowers. I love how this came out, and I will definitely enjoy using this as a decorative piece this October and November.

I hope you enjoyed my project for this amazing release. You can be sure that I will be making many more projects using these sets from the Day of the Dead line by Sheena in future blog posts. Check out all the sets in this release on the website for Crafter's Companion.

Best Witches for Halloween

It's finally October! It's my favorite month of the year with my favorite holiday of the year - Halloween!! Fall is just such a pretty time of year with all the colors all around. So I was inspired to make a fun Halloween card today.

Here is what I created:

This stamp is so much fun to color, and because it has small details you will want to shade, I used my Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils. The pencils are perfect for getting into smaller places where your markers won't.

For the image, I actually stamped the witches feet in the cauldron from the Halloween EZ Mount Stamp Set, Best Witches, onto the Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock panel I had cut out and used a mask to sponge on the yellow/purple background around it. It is a more intricate stamp to mask out, but it's so worth it! I love the way the sponging looks. I flicked on some white spray mist as well for a little added touch.

I hope you are inspired to create some spooky greetings for this Halloween! Check out the fun items Crafter's Companion has to offer just for this holiday!!

Sledding Snowman

The holidays are approaching (only 3 months away)! So that means getting some holiday cards ready to mail out in time this year. I'm determined!

I've created this little card today:

I LOVE this little snowman. He's just too cute. And I decided to color this today with my pencils over my markers. They are perfect for images with smaller details, like the scarf, sled, and such.

Embossing folder and layers with foam adhesive give great dimension and texture to your cards.

So Much Love

Good morning! I have a pretty spring card today for you using the newer Bebunni Floral Collection, Sweet Friend. I colored him in with Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils (114, 117, 119, 112, 120, 001, 113, 003, 005, 007, 009, 056, 057, 058, 041, 037, 042, 033). The soft glow around him, I used a water pen with the Spectrum Aqua Marker in Aquamarine. To help blend the pencils together, I use the Spectrum Noir Blending Solution and the Paper Stumps. These tools are fab to help get a nice, blended image.

I have a dotted stencil in my supplies that I used with Distress Ink in Scattered Straw that I dabbed on gently around the bunny image. I just love the extra pop it gives to the image! You can do this with whatever stencils you have in your supplies. Crafter's Companion has great stencils HERE!

I assembled my card and adhered to a bright pop of magenta cardstock. I hope you enjoyed my project today!
