Lawnscaping Challenge No. 90

I'm back with a great challenge for Lawnscaping Challenge No. 90...Critters Galore!!

For my Critters Galore card, I used a bunch of critters from the Lawn Fawn Critters in Costume set. Kinda fitting for this challenge, huh? I inked them up with Memento in Tuxedo Black and stamped onto my white cardstock I use for all my coloring. I colored my critters in with Spectrum Noir Markers and fussy cut them all out (I don't have the dies for this set yet, but I'd recommend getting them!! They're on my list...) and used foam adhesive on the backs. I had a lot of fun assembling this card! The sentiment is and bat are from Lawn Fawn's Trick or Treat set. I stamped that onto the green hills in white ink. The grey clouds are from Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods set.

I have a little tip for making a fun fall/Halloween moon like you see above. I used circle dies I had and cut the moon shape out like this. I then hand trimmed it into the perfect shape I wanted for the 

moon.

I love making holiday cards, even in the summer! Not that I look forward to mounds of snow to shovel or anything, but the actual thought of the house decorated, the smells of holiday baking, pine, ahhhh. :)

I have created an adorable card today using the Bebunni Christmas EZMount Stamp Set, Poinsettia which was stamped with Memento, Tuxedo Black on my Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium Cardstock. I colored him in with my Spectrum Noir Markers (GB6, LG5, EB7, FS5, FS8, TN2, TN3, TN7, PP2, OR1, DR6, CR5, CR8, CR11, and Blender Pen).

The ornate frame I diecut with the Die'sire Decorative Dies, Nouveau Stamping Frame. I chose the larger of the two in the package. I then cut out the center rectangle with the die for the Bebunni colored image, then adhered the two together.

I used a simple patterned paper strip at the bottom and cut the sentiment, also from the Bebunni Christmas Poinsettia set, out and centered that on the patterned strip. I adhered it all to a white cardstock base with a simple blue and white patterned paper. I also added 3 green enamel dots for some fun elements on the card.

Manly Birthday to You!

Hi there! I always struggle with manly birthday cards, but of course, we all need them! I think this is manly, colorful and simple at the same time. I found a layout similar while browsing through my pinned items in my Pinterest paper crafting board. I find when I get stuck, I go there and browse and an idea usually hits me and I run with it.

I chose the Stamp-It Australia set, Shirts for this card and used my Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils for this. I used 108, 111, 032, 093, 017, 024, 104, 106, 071, 073, 117, 120, 061, 063, 010, 020, 021, 050, 026, and 007. They were stamped with Memento, Tuxedo Black onto the Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock.

I chose the pencils over the Spectrum Noir Markers for this particular set because of the smaller image and detail in this shirts. Worked perfectly.

I just paired up some fun colored strips of paper and glued them on an angle and then used the shirts colored image in the middle.

The sentiment is from the Toreads, Flora set. It's blocked letters which is more masculine for this card design. I stamped it onto my navy base in Memento Luxe in Wedding Dress. I LOVE this white ink pad!

Welcome to the Lawnscaping Challenge No. 89! As you can see by the above graphic, it's ONE LAYER. That means just one layer. It's definitely a challenge, but I love a good challenge. I hope you play along!

I do, I really heart fall. LOTS. I wish it could be fall all year round in my world. So I created this adorable little "I <heart> fall" card using the Lawn Fawn Into the Woods set. I used the sentiment and little acorn from that set.

I inked up the sentiment with Versamark ink and created a simple background with that on my kraft cardstock base. For the one sentiment towards the top, I used Memento ink in Tangelo and colored in the heart on that with my Spica Pen in Black. It's pretty and shimmery in person. 

I stamped the acorn guy in Memento, Tuxedo Black on the card. I colored him in with my Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils and outlined him with a warm grey Spectrum Noir Marker to give him a little highlight. I think I love his little cheeks the best! 

I rounded the bottom two corners of the card and applied Distress Ink in Old Paper and Distress Stain in Vintage Photo. 

I <heart> fall!!

Lawnscaping August 2014 Blog Hop

Welcome to the Lawnscaping Blog Hop! The theme for August is Pinks and Warm Grays. The challenge is sponsored by the generous and amazing Spectrum Noir. The prize for this challenge are the two sets of markers featured above in the badge. They are my absolute favorite coloring medium. Be sure to check them out!

On to my card for the challenge. I used the Lawn Fawn, Woodgrain Backdrops for the background of my card. I took a grey card base and used Memento Luxe in Wedding Dress to ink up the woodgrain. The stamp fit about half my card, so I just reinked it and turned it over to stamp the other half. Love that it varies the look of the woodgrain just like the real deal.

For the die cut piece, I took from my stash (Heidi Swapp embossed cutouts) and I inked on with a craft sponge with my Memento in Rose Bud. I varied the pressure of rubbing it onto the cutout to vary the color of pink from darker to light.

For my little fox, I used him from the Lawn Fawn, Into the Woods set. The Me+You heart is also from the Woodgrain backdrops set. The fox was stamped onto white card stock with Memento, Black Tuxedo and I fussy cut him out and colored him in with my Spectrum Noir markers. For the heart, I inked up the solid heart with the Rose Bud ink, and stamped it off to lighten it up. For the outline and the ME+YOU text, I used Memento Luxe in Grey Flannel.

Perfect Gift for Christmas

I had to make a little holiday card. Hey, I know it's weird to make them while sitting in my A/C house in shorts, but I want to stay ahead! Plus, this adorable image was begging for me to use it...

For this card, I used my Bebunni, Snowy Hugs stamp set. How adorable is this image?? I stamped it onto the Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock in Memento, Tuxedo Black and die cut it out with the Die'Sire Essentials Circles set (I can't tell you how handy this set is AND how well it cuts!). I then colored this in with my Spectrum Noir Markers (BG1, BG2, BG4, BG7, FS2, FS5, FS6, PP3, GB10, GB5, TN2, TN3, TN4, TN8, OR1, OR3, IG6, BGR1, GT1, GT2, GT3, TB2, TB3, CG3, CG4, CG1, CG2, DR1, DR4, DR6, Blender) and inked the edges with Distress Ink in Old Paper to soften it. It's hard to see some of the details in the photos like the softly inked edges, or the slight coloring on the snowman, but I assure you, they're there!

The sentiment is also from the Snowy Hugs set which I stamped in Tuxedo Black onto a piece of patterned paper and cut out the tag shape myself, punched a hole and added a piece of yarn to finish it off.

For the pop of red in the background, I pulled out the Shimmering Cardstock in Candy Red and my Christmas Patchwork embossing folder. LOVE the way that turned out! Added just the right amount of color to the kraft card base and pulled the red from the bird out as well.

Lawnscaping Challenge #88: Texture Anyone?

Hi there! Another fun challenge today from Lawnscaping. This one is Texture Anyone? Why yes, I think I will ;)

Here is my take on the texture challenge. I used different forms of texture here. The background paper, black textured stock for the cassette tape, stamping of the label, and the way I colored in the yeti.

I chose a bright orange stock that looks textured for the background behind my black cassette tape. I took one look at the yeti from the Yeti, Set, Go set and thought, those aren't earmuffs, they're headphones! I took out my cassette tape die and make this little creature rockin' out on this card. 

I colored him in with my Spectrum Noir Markers. For the headphones, I stamped them onto the yeti, then fussy cut him and the headphones out. To add some dimension and color, I stamped just the headphone pieces onto a yellow/white card stock and fussy cut those separately and used foam adhesive to stick them on there. 

For the cassette label, I used the music notes from the Winter Sparrows set and stamped them here and there using Memento in Tangelo and then used Memento Luxe in Grey Flannel. The yellowish pattern you see is from a stencil that I used with Versamagic in Sugarcane. 

The sentiment, You're a Rare Find, is also from the Yeti, Set, Go as well. I stamped that at the top of the label in Memento, Tuxedo Black.

Happy Graduation!

I made this card specifically for my husband's youngest cousin who just graduated college. The saying from Pablo Picasso is PERFECT for her new path in life ahead. 

The sentiment is from the Stamp-It Australia, Ornate Accessories. I used Memento Luxe in Wedding Dress for this. I die cut out the smaller of the two frames from the Die'Sire Nouveau Stamping Frame dies in a darker grey stock. The quote fits perfectly inside the frame. 

For the crown image, which is also from the Stamp-It Australia, Ornate Accessories, I stamped that using my Delicata, Golden Glitz ink and cut out around it. I adhered it to the frame with foam adhesive.

I wanted something girly to go with the darker grey stock, so I grabbed a pretty piece of floral patterned paper from my stash and cut to fit onto my cream card base. 

The embossed piece was done with the Bold Floral embossing folder and I spritzed on some mists and blotted off with a paper towel. 

You can make beautiful cards out of so many unexpected items such as this Ornate Accessories set. Just think outside the box ;)

Little Ballerina

I've got a sweet card perfect for that special little girl in your life! I have PLENTY of little girls in the family to be able to give this to for a birthday.

I used the Angelica & Adam, Ballerina stamp and inked it up with my Memento, Tuxedo Black and stamped her onto the always awesome Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock. I use NOTHING else when I stamp to color!! This paper is just...sigh...lovely.

I colored her in using my Spectrum Noir Markers (FS1, FS3, CR3, TN2, TN3, TN4, TN8, CR4, CR5, PP1, PP2, PP5, PP6, IG2, IG4, IG7, BG2, BG1, and Blender). After I colored her in, I die cut her with the Die'sire Essentials Circle set using the largest die, 3.5".

The sentiment is from the Bebunni, Sent With Love set. I simply used a small strip of pink and stamped it in Memento, Tuxedo Black, handcut the pennant on the end and glued down with foam adhesive squares and bent it a bit to show movement.

For the background strip, I used some watercolor stock for texture and inked up the beautiful flourish image from the Stamp-It Australia, Ornate Accessories set with Memento Luxe, Angel Pink.

The black strip at the top of the card is the Crafter's Companion Shimmering Cardstock in Black Pearl.

The doily and chevron/crown card is from my stash. I love digging through what I have to add interest! I just love the way this came out.

I wanted to make a little card wishing my oldest (sniffle, sniffle) good luck on his first day going into 4th grade. I try to make the kids each a card for the first day of school so they have something cute to start their day off with, and so I can get my emotions over with so I'm not a mess ;)

For this card, I chose a kraft card base since it reminds me of covering my textbooks with brown paper bags. You totally remember that, right?? I then chose a green shimmery card stock and embossed it with the alphabet embossing folder (which is PERFECT for this card) to give it some dimension. I glued it on an angle for interest.

For the chalkboard image, I used the Lawn Fawn, A Good Apple set and the Flying By set for the airplanes. My son loves to make paper airplanes, so that's why I thought it was cute to add them.

For the smudges on the chalkboard, I just used a craft sponge and gently rubbed that onto the black card stock for that chalkboard look.

Almost Back to School

Sadly, the summer has flown by, and I wished I had done more, of course, which means school time is approaching. I'm really hoping to get a jump on actually scrapbooking this year and I thought a great start would be a little mini album for my soon-to-be-fourth-grader. Gasp. When did that happen? I'm too young to have a 9 year old, right??

Here is the little mini album I made for him:

I picked some more boyish papers for the book since he is getting older and everything! I chose the cute Angelica & Adam, Skater Boy since I figured it was pretty perfect for his age. I colored him in using Spectrum Noir Markers (FS5, FS9, CR4, OR1, OR2, GB7, GB9, EB6, GB11, TN9, IG3, IG5, TB5, TB7, BG3, LG3, LG5, GT2, GT3, BGR3, BGR2, BGR5, DR1 and Blender) and Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils (118, 021, 026, 117, 064). After I colored him in, I fussy cut him out.

I used the new Die'sire Nouveau Stamping Frame for the ornate piece behind the skater boy. I cut it out of the amazing Shimmering Cardstock in Gold Dust. For the circles, I used a cork board piece of patterned paper and cut it out using the Die'sire Essentials Dies, Circles. I used the largest circle, which measures 3.5". (Great thing about these dies is that it tells you right on the packaging/where the dies stick what size you're using!) Then I used the next size down, 3", of the circle dies and used a coordinating school desk piece of patterned paper. I used this same paper inside the book as well. For the final scallop circle shape, I cut out the shape using the Die'sire Essentials Dies, Scalloped Circles using the 2" one. 

Inside the notebook paper scalloped circle, I used the F and G from the Die'sire Decorative Dies, Alphabet Uppercase 1 inch dies. I ran them through my little Xyron to make it easier to adhere. I grabbed some typewriter font small letter stickers and spelled out the rest of the "fourth grade" text. 

For some cute interest, I added a gray/white twine bow and a chipboard arrow which I inked up with Memento, Nautical Blue and Radiant Neon, Electric Yellow.
