It's Almost Halloween!

BOO! It's almost Halloween. I love this holiday so much!! So I created a fun card to celebrate the spooky night ahead...

I saw these cards that were available and I knew I HAD to have them. They're coffin cards. How amazing is that?! I used the Regal Corner embossing folder on just the front of the card.

For the main image, I used the hat and sentiment from the Best Witches stamp set and colored it in with my Spectrum Noir Markers (IG7, IG9, LG1, PL2, PL3, PL4, CG3, CG2, CG1, OR1, OR3, GB6, GB9, GB10 and Blender). For an aged look, I sponged around the edges with my Distress Inks in Scattered Straw and Tea Dye. Then on the green bottom of the image, I swirled on some Stickles Glitter Glue in Star Dust. I cut out the shape with a die I have in my supplies. I then used foam adhesive to pop it up off the card.

Best Witches to YOU!

Lawnscaping Challenge #92: Halloween OR Color Combo

Welcome back to another fun Lawnscaping Challenge! This time, we have Halloween OR Color Combo. Anyone who knows me knows I LOOOOOOVE Halloween. I seriously live for it all year long. I'd love to be able to decorate for Halloween all year round. :)

We are sponsored by the always amazing Lawn Fawn

For my project, I chose to do BOTH the Halloween theme and used the color combo. I used the Lawn Fawn Monster Mash for the little purple monster and the candy corn from the Lawn Fawn Critters in Costume. I adore those little monsters. For the eyeballs, I used some simple pearl accents and a black marker to dot in the eye. LOVE it. And he's super fancy with his little bow tie. Ready to party! I colored them in with my Spectrum Noir Markers.

For the sentiment in the corner, I used the Have a Boo-tiful Day from the Monster Mash set and the pennant tag from Lawn Fawn's Winter Gifts.

For the card, I used a cream base and used an edge distressing tool to roughen up my purple and orange patterned paper. It gives it that creepy look for Halloween. For the black piece, I used my Tim Holtz Alterations Embossing Folder, Notebook Paper.

I think this might be tucked into my oldest's lunchbox for Halloween :)

Have a blast playing along with our challenge. You can find all the rules at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog!

Joys of the Season

Today I have a very CAS (clean and simple) card for you. This would be perfect to make for a lot of family/friends on your holiday card list this year, or even to make a set as a gift for a teacher!

For this card today, I've used the Christmas Elegance embossing folder with some blue cardstock I had in my stash forever. I then cut it apart and snuck in the snowflake writing from the Stamp-It Australia, Falling Snowflake set. I stamped it onto my darker blue cardstock with Memento Luxe, Wedding Dress. I love this white ink. By far one of THE best white inks I've used!

For the star, I cut that out with the Die'sire Essentials, Stars die (I used the largest star in the set) and stamped the sentiment, which is also from the Stamp-It Australia, Falling Snowflake set, with Memento, Nautical Blue onto the same kraft color as the card base. I took a silver marker and went along the outer edges of the star with a ruler to just give it a little something extra. I stuck it down with foam adhesive squares to give it dimension.

Have fun creating some CAS cards!

Mouse Love

This is definitely one of my most favorite collection of images ever that are offered by Crafter's Companion. I just love every single one of these sets!!! For this card, I've used the new Moonbeam Meadow, True Love set.

I stamped my image onto the Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock and cut it out with the Die'sire Essentials, Circles dies (I used the largest one) and started coloring away. I used my Spectrum Noir Markers (BGR1, CR1, CR7, HB1, HB2, HB3, GT2, FS1, FS4, TN5, TN7, IB1, TN2, TN4, EB2, EB3, LG3, LG5, BT1, GT2, BT5, PP2, PP4, GB1, GB5, TN6, Blender) to bring this image to life.

For the sentiment, I cut that out with the Die'sire Just the Ticket dies. They are perfect for so many of the smaller sentiments. I colored it in with my Spectrum Noir Marker to match the water in the main image. I then tied a simple little twine bow in taupe/white and added that to the top of the die cut sentiment.

For the card, I used a simple white card base and some brown and light aqua patterned paper I cut into strips and glued down. I then glued down the mice image and let it hang over the right edge of the card and trimmed that off with scissors. I placed the sentiment in the lower left corner. Lastly, I added three aqua sequins to the image.

I hope you enjoyed it and please be sure to check out all the amazing sets offered from Moonbeam Meadow.

Here is my card I created for this fun challenge. I used some patterned paper for the hand cut pennant shape and the penguins scarf from the Lawn Fawn 6x6 Sweater Weather Paper Pad. I love this paper. I paper pieced the little guy's scarf with the heart paper from the pad. So cozy!

The penguin is from the Lawn Fawn, Winter Penguin set and the sentiment I chose, Warm Wishes, is from the Lawn Fawn, Love You a Latte set.

I colored him in with my Spectrum Noir Markers. I added a light grey to his face on the right and his belly to give him some depth.

I added a simple dark navy enamel dot over the "i" in wishes to match the navy base I chose. Totally cute :)

Come by and check out the details for participating in this challenge over at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog. You have until Wednesday, October 15, 2014 to submit your entries! Good luck!

Wishing You Joy

Hi everyone! I know, Christmas seems FAR away. I like to have a stash of cards on hand for all occasions and this card is perfect for a quick card to make for a teacher, neighbor, friend, or anyone you'd like to wish some joy and cheer to this season. This is also a great card you could really mass produce if you'd like. The only time consuming part would be the fussy cutting. If you did them assembly style, working on one element at a time, you could definitely do that!

LET'S GET STARTED!

1. I chose a kraft cardstock base. Who doesn't love kraft? Oh, and it goes with everything! (Is kraft the new black? Maybe...)

2. Cut red patterned paper cardstock and glue to the base. You can alter the size, too.

3. Take Shimmering Cardstock in Silver Starlight and use the Sheena Evergreen embossing folder. Run through your diecutting/embossing machine. Cut to size to fit depending on how much red cardstock you'd like to show (I left just a thin border). Sponge over the evergreen with Distress Inks in Iced Spruce and Evergreen Bough. Glue to the red cardstock.

4. Cut a piece of corrugated or textured cardstock strip. (Use the corrugated side of your coffee sleeve from Starbucks or your local coffee shop!)

5. For the sentiment, I inked up the Sentimentals, Mistletoe Kisses in Versafine Black because I wanted it nice and dark. I colored in part of the banner with my Spectrum Noir Marker in DR1 and DR5 for shadowing, and the ampersand with DG2. (It is slightly darker, but you can see it in person.) I chose a light ivory cardstock and just rounded the corners to soften it up.

6. I inked up the holly leaves from the Stamp-It Australia, Christmas Happiness with Versafine as well on the CC Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock since I knew I'd be coloring it in with my Spectrum Noir Markers (DR1, DR5, DG2, DG3). I then fussy cut them out and set them aside.

7. After you have everything cut out, assemble the card to your liking. I wanted to push up the sentiment bundle towards the top to really highlight the evergreen embossed paper I created. I love this card!

If you need a different card type, just use the sketch from the card! You can put balloons in the corner or a present for a birthday card. Pumpkins or a witch hat for Halloween. Fall leaves in the corners with a thankful sentiment for Thanksgiving or a hostess thank you card. The possibilities are endless.  Crafter's Companion has a LOT to offer for embossing folder, stamp sets, shimmering cardstock, and MORE.
