Celebrate Your Day in Style!

I've got a fun card here for any celebration! I used the Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy, Falling Feathers with the Delicata Golden Glitz ink. I actually pulled out my clear embossing powder and heat gun! What????!!! I haven't used that in so long. I forgot how much I love it.

I then took the largest feather from the Falling Feathers set and stamped onto my watercolor paper. I used VersaFine ink because I was going to be using watercolors and it won't run that way. I then dabbed onto my handy craft mat some Radiant Neon in Electric Pink and Electric Purple and spritzed with water so that I could "paint" my feather with it. I LOVE the way the neon inks looks so soft when used with that technique. I then fussy cut that out and set aside.
For the tag, I took the Swallow from UmWow Studios and used it as a stencil! I placed it onto the tag and spritzed on some black spray mist. I let it dry and then took off the swallow. This way, I can use it over and over!! I then stamped the "celebrate your day in style" sentiment from the set Sentimentals-Imagine in Delicata, Golden Glitz in the open space. I took some natural ribbon from my stash and tied that through the tag hole. I used pop dots to adhere the large feather behind the tag.

There you have it! Go celebrate and shop with Crafter's Companion and UmWow Studios today for some unique items just like these.

Let's Celebrate

For today, I have a fun technique I did for this card that can be used for a birthday, graduation, anything that you want to celebrate!!

I took a piece of the Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth White Cardstock and I grabbed my Spectrum Noir markers (IB1, IB3, TB2, TB3, BT4, and BT8) and started coloring small sections and blending together where they met. You can see I didn't really follow a true ombre effect, but I love the colors together. You can do this with any color combo you want!

After I was finished coloring how I liked it, I took the Spectrum Noir Blender Refill (this is the solution that goes in the Blender marker to refill it) and used the eyedropper from the bottle and just squeezed it on in varying sizes around the colored area on my card stock. I let it dry completely. This takes patience...or putting it outside...or drying with a heat gun...you get my drift ;)

On my card base, I took some spray mists (which you can actually do this with a paint brush and watered down inks as well; just load up the paintbrush with water and dip into your ink that's been dabbed onto a craft mat to make it more watercolor like and flick on or let drip onto your card base) and clicked on some spots in black and green for some interest.

I then took the piece I colored and adhered to my card base just how I wanted it.

For the sentiment, I inked up the Let's Celebrate from the Popcorn the Bear, Party Time set in Memento, Tuxedo Black and stamped on the lower left corner of the card base.

The feather is from the Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy, Falling Feathers set. I stamped it with Memento, Tuxedo Black onto Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth White Cardstock and then went over it with a sponge and my Delicata Golden Glitz ink. I fussy cut out the feather making sure to cut out around the smaller pieces of the feather to make it appear more realistic. Then I found these great clear stars in my stash that I thought fit perfect with the celebrate theme and the card and I created this little grouping!

Hope you enjoyed this technique!

Scruffy Little Cat Release

This adorable set of images is called Scruffy Little Cat. I love the fun eyelashes and the fun elements to color!!! Perfect for bridal showers, bachelorette showers, wedding card for a special friend or any girly girl you know!

I used the Scruffy Little Cat EZ Mount Stamp Set-Niamh. I colored her in with the Spectrum Noir Markers (TN3, TN7, TN9, FS3, FS2, CR1, PP5, BG6, BG2, DR3) and the Spectrum Noir Blendable Colored Pencils (040, 063, 069, 089, 027, 086, 108, 094, 093). I decided to give her eyelashes a little sparkle with a black glitter pen I have. Love the way she came out.

The white angled piece behind her I ran through my machine using the 6x6 Embossalicious embossing folder. It just adds that right touch of interest, but doesn't overpower the pretty lady and sentiment (also from the Niamh set)! I added some black, grey and star sequins as well. Just because it's like a pajama party going on in here with Niamh! I hope you enjoyed my project. Check out all the fun Scruffy Little Cat sets available at Crafter's Companion!

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day (one day early)!! I have a really soft, feminine card that I thought was perfect for Mother's Day...

To create this card, I used a purple card base (folds to 4.25x5.5). I then took a sheet of the Ultra Smooth White Cardstock from Crafter's Companion and stamped the floral image with Versafine-Onyx Black from the Stamp-It Australia Floral Fancies. I ran it off the card on the left side. I wanted the negative space for design purposes. It really draws your eye to the grouping of flowers, don't you think?

Now the coloring for this is simply INK! Yup, that's all. I LOVED the way this came out.

For the flowers, I used Radiant Neon-Electric Purple. What I do is actually stamp ink onto my craft mat (from Ranger) and spritz with water and use a paintbrush to color in the image. It's really simple and so, so pretty! I then used Memento Luxe-Sweet Plum as well. As you can see, you CAN definitely use neon inks without them being super bright! I wanted to definitely point that out.

For the leaves, I used a combination of Radiant Neon-Electric Green and Memento Luxe-Pistachio and Memento-Rich Cocoa for shadows.

For the background, I used a very wide paintbrush and used my Memento-Nautical Blue in the same fashion just using varying amounts of water. You can see that by the varying shades of blue! I used a light hand around the actual flowers. I will definitely be using this technique again. I would recommend using actual watercolor paper if you're going to do this though. You can see little flecks in the blue area I painted on; that's actually the paper fibers picking off! But I actually like it. If you want to avoid that, use watercolor paper. I just picked up a pad in the kids section at Target!! SCORE.

The sentiment is from the Sentimentals-Imagine set and I stamped that with Delicata Silver Shimmer ink. I cut out around that and added a row of pearls to accent it.

Happy Mother's Day to all you amazing moms out there!

Spring Butterfly

Here's a beautiful spring card I created using this large butterfly from the Sheena's A Little Bit Sketchy-True Colors. I colored it in with the Spectrum Noir Blendable Pencils (101, 086, 063, 069, 043, 045, 046, 017, 021, 022, 028, 030). As always, I stamped it on my Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock from Crafter's Companion. I used the Spectrum Noir Blending Solution and paper stumps to blend the colors together. I fussy cut it out and used the foam adhesive circles to pop it up off the background.

For the background, I used Stamp-It Australia Dreamer-Once in a Lifetime and got fun with some spray mists and then I sprayed all over the entire piece with the Sheer Shimmer Spritz in Sparkle.

The card base is actually a package of cards I purchased at Target on clearance for $0.88!! I couldn't pass that up. I love how bright and fun this card is; it can be used for any occasion.
